AUGUST Digging Results

house

Isn't this a cool historic home. Mike Condon and his wife keep this 130 year old house looking great. It shouldn't be too hard for Mike though, he specializes in historic restoration projects. Mike is the owner and operator of YPSILANTI RESTORATION and really knows his stuff.

We probed the yard a year ago when previous owners lived in the house. We found a pit that felt loaded, but never made it back to dig it. When we returned, to our surprise we had to start all over again. That was no problem though because they were real cool about the dig. So shall we get started.

pieces

The first bottle was blown, (that means it's not made in a machine) and was about 12" from the surface. That's good. We really had no idea of the possible age of the bottles we might find. The houses architecture didn't give us enough of a clue. We will just have to wait until we get towards the bottom to tell.

Here Dan is with a ground top Mason 1858 jar.

doll

It isn't really obvious from the pictures here, but we noticed the majority of the items and bottles were female oriented. Like this little doll, there where several doll heads and a lot of perfumes.
